Flubot Malware Targeting Android Devices, Can Steal Your Personal Information

Last year a lot of apps were removed from Google Playstore as it was believed that they were stealing user data. A recent study has revealed that a new malware FluBot has been affecting Android users in countries like UK, Spain, Germany and Poland. The malware is believed to steal user data.

Users may receive a fake message which says that use this link to track your parcel. Teh message is disguised to be coming from a package delivery company. Few users may have a habit of clicking links in SMS without thinking about the outcome of clicking spammy links. When you click the link it will redirect you to a fake website of the delivery company and ask you to download an APK file.

Normally, android devices don’t allow users to download apps from non-trusted sources but this app also has a reader instruction set in the lower area. The instructions ask the users to download the APK file in the way described.

As soon as you allow the app to be installed the Flubot malware gets activated on your android device. The malware then keeps tracking your messages, chats, and SMS. It can also steal your net banking passwords, social media accounts passwords, and other sensitive information.

The Flubot Malware was first reported by BBC.  UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has notified security guidance to identify the malware and telecom network providers like Vodafone UK have also issued warnings in public welfare. They have asked their customers to beware of getting trapped by such messages.
