1. Make sure you’re connected to the internet

Before downloading any file make sure that you have an active internet connection If you are using a Wi-Fi make sure that the internet is active from backend. If your Internet will be unstable you will not be able to download the files.

2. Update your Telegram version

3. Disable data saver mode on your smartphone

Sometimes when we have data saver mode activated on our phone telegram data saver stops a lot of activities on the internet. Turn off data saver mode on your smartphone and check if you are able to download the Telegram media file.

4. Disable the proxy settings or VPN

Sometimes your smartphone may be connected to a VPN or proxy server. When this is the case Telegram fails to download various media files. Make sure you are not connected to any VPN app while you are downloading a media file from Telegram

5. Enable Automatic Media Download on Telegram app

6. Increase the Telegram Max media download size

Telegram has the option to set a limit for media file downloads. You can set a data limit or storage limit for photos and videos. For example, if your limit is 150 MB you will not be able to download a file of video having 250 MB size.

Step 1 open telegram on your Android smartphone click on the hamburger menu in the top left corner

Step 2 Look for the settings option

Step 4 Under the automatic media download option select the option that suits your needs it has two options when using mobile data and when connected to Wi-Fi

Step 5 Click on when using mobile data it will show different options

Step 6: Now select the media for which you want to increase the size. Use the slider to increase or decrease the maximum video size

Step 7 Follow the same steps for the option when connected to Wi-Fi.

7. Check if Telegram Servers Are Down

Telegram servers may be down which can also be one of the reasons why you are not able to download media files on Telegram. Telegram is a popular messaging platform and has millions of users worldwide. Telegram can also suffer server down issues.

8. Uninstall and reinstall Telegram

If you are not able to download Telegram media files frequently then we suggest you uninstall the Telegram app and reinstall it. This might solve the issue of Telegram not downloading media files. To install the Telegram app long press the icon of Telegram in your smartphone. Now click on the uninstall option, this will remove the Telegram app from your device.
