Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms that let you connect users with each other. It allows you to create reels, and DM to your friends or businesses. Instagram keeps testing new updates and features for its users.
It is testing an Artificial Intelligence tool that lets them verify the age of the person by scanning.
With this tool, Instagram will be able to verify whether the age entered by the user is correct or not.
Currently, the minimum age to run Instagram should be at least 13. Earlier age was not a factor that was considered in the apps but nowadays almost all the apps ask for your date of birth and age. Some apps do not allow minors to join the app. Like some adult apps allow only people more than 18 years of age to join the app.
Instagram Age Verification, Video Selfie & Social Vouching
Instagram Age Verification tool: In the process of age verification, you will be asked to upload a video selfie of yourself and after that, your age will be verified. Instagram is making use of a third-party app called Yoti.
This is being done to maintain the privacy of the user and to make sure children below 13 years of age are not involved in the app. After the verification is done the selfie video will be deleted.

In one of the Instagram blog post, Instagram says, “Yoti’s technology estimates your age based on your facial features and shares that estimate with us. Meta and Yoti then delete the image. The technology cannot recognize your identity — only your age.”
To verify the age there is one more method the social vouching method. In this method, a user’s three mutual friends are asked about his age.
