“You Feeling Lucky?” Ministry of Statistics Twitter Account Hacked

Ministry of Statistics Twitter handle got hacked by hackers on 17 March 2022. The group of hackers tweeted: You feeling lucky on the Twitter handle of the Ministry. The profile pic changed to that of Elon M usk.

Since the beginning of Russia and Ukraine war the number of hacking attempts have increased rapidly. The government websites and social media handles are becoming the main targets.

Last month also the Twitter account of I&B ministry was hacked. BJP chief JP Nadda’s Twitter account was also hacked and the handle tweeted demands for crypto donations. In December 2021 Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was also compromised.

Most of the hackers demand bitcoins by using these accounts. Govt websites and social media accounts holds a lot of confidential data and these increased attacks are a cause of concern. Cyber security cell is working on making the govt. digital assets more secure.

 

 

  • Hacking has become quite commond nowadays. We recommend you to stay safe and secure by following thes steps:-
  • Creating strong passwords for your social media handles and websites. You can use combination of alphanumerice characters in your password.
  • Never share your passwords with others
  • Never write your passwords on places from where they can be easily exposed to others.
  • Changing passwords in every 3-4 months duration.
